Macbook Air M1 and Logitech Streamcam

Hi everbody,

I recently received a Logitech Streamcam, for which I wanted to use the Logitech Capture application through my Macbook Air M1, however, when reading on the Logitech Capture website, they tell me that this application is only compatible with macOS BigSur but only with processor Intel. I would like to know if there are other applications that can support the M1 processor or when this processor will support Logitech Capture.

Unfortunately, Logi Capture does not work with Rosetta 2, it just crashes immediately upon opening with a long text message of error gobbledygook. Numerous people have been moaning at Logitech for more than a year now to bring out compatible software and they haven't. I use an old Logitech program called 'Camera Settings', which will run, but is fiddly. You have to turn off and then back on your webcam a few times in whatever meeting application you're using (Teams, Zoom, etc.) until your zoom or pan settings will appear in the meeting app. Logitech support just say 'uh, we don't know, they're working on it'. It's very disappointing. They had more than a year before M1 silicon was brought out to work on it with the developer kit and still nothing, nearly two years later.

The M1+ MacBook Air may be able to use the 'intel-based' camera and its application.

Or not.

Have you tried Rosetta2?

See if this may help:

• If you need to install Rosetta2 on your Mac - Apple Support

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT211861

• About the Rosetta Translation Environment | Apple Developer Documentation

At some point, makers of these products either should have correct

update driver/software, &/or refer to customers to others who do.

"But you should contact the app developer to inquire about a version

that can natively use the full power and performance of Apple silicon."

You can use 'Get Info' to identify apps that need Rosetta or can use Rosetta.

Sort of doubted early on about anything transitioning over

and to be an 'early adopter' has almost always been sketchy.

Even with major players, some have half-baked products that

would have been better if not offered in retail at all.

While possibilities and doubts were addressed adequately in

above; an idea to wait until later Apple silicon hardware (soft-

ware support) is more mainstream; w/o 'rosetta2' patch.

Thank you for additional insights on this matter!
