USB doesn't show up in Finder

Hello, so I've got a USB with a problem that has happened for a long time. I plug it in and it doesn't show up in Finder. I followed the instruction in MacOS User Guide ( ->About this Mac -> System Report -> USB). So I found out that the Mac does detect my USB as it shown up there. After that the User Guide says if it shows up in the USB section but doesn't work then read the device's documentation for further troubleshooting steps. Where can I find this documentation? (Pic 1)

Btw my friend told me to go to Disk Utility and the USB is greyed out. I couldn't mount it or first aid it.

Finder>Preferences>Sidebar>External Disk

The drive appears to have failed, or un-repairable, replace the drive

You can try erase/format/initialize the drive as new... or replace the drive.
