Printer/scanner won't work with MacBook Air
Is there any hope for getting my Canon Pixma MG3100 series (actual mode #3122) to work with my brand new MacBook Air? Canon has no updated version available to help.

Have you updated the printer firmware for AirPrint.
AirPrint printers should work with Big Sur

Yes, but my Mac tells me that the manufacturer needs to update its software, which is over 4 years old. I've also tried Canon's utility tool, which is also out of date. I've been very happy with my Canon hardware over the years except for Canon USA's failure to support older models.
Did you get anywhere with Canon? I am disappointed in that company, having purchased many devices over the years and none of them get support beyond a few years. Excellent products should have equally good updates, etc. I still haven't purchased a new scanner/printer, so please let me know, if you figure anything out. Thanks.
After waiting for a very long time on hold with Cannon they worked it out I can print I haven't tried scanning yet but thank god it worked... took them some time but I am worried with all the new updates Apple about to send us that this may cause some issues as well have to wait and see how we go , agree Mac needs to be more compatible otherwise I will not be updating to Mac next time :-(
How old is your printer? I wonder if there is any hope for mine, which was purchased quite a few years ago. Glad you had some success, and I hope the scanner part works, too. As far as I understood, there was no support for Canon products out of warranty. My issue is with Canon, not Macintosh.
I have same issue with MP550 been on hold to cannon for 30 minutes
