I have a Sony digital tape video camera and am having trouble converting video to an MP4 file. I had no trouble doing this with my older Mac using Quicktime. Now that I have a new Mac with a thunderbolt connection i can't get the computer to recognize my camera. with my older mac I could then transfer the MP4 file to my Wondershare video editor. I have all there proper thunderbolt adapters and cable,

What is the year/model of your new Mac (do not post the serial number)? You can see it in About this Mac.
Also, since you have posted this query in the Bootcamp forum, is the issue on the macOS side, or Windows running on an Intel Mac via Bootcamp?
What is the model of your Sony camera? Are you using a Firewire interface on the camera or a USB interface? Please describe the adapters/connectors used from Camera to your new Mac?

Is the camera a DCR-TRV120 not a DVR TRV120? I assume you are using a miniFW-to-FW800 <-> FW800-to-TB2 <-> TB2-to-TB3/USBc adapters. Is that correct?
I have a 9 pin to 4 pin FireWire cable plus the appropriate thunderbolt adapters purchased from apple

On your 'old' Mac, did it have a Firewire 800 (or Firewire 400) port?

I have a similar setup, but a 2018 Mini. I have the cables and adapters and a Sony DCR-TRV 260 and a DCR-TRV 460. Let me duplicate your setup and test.
