Why three, I will give you more...

1. When you save and edit photos, iPhone keeps both the original and "edited photos" for more refer to point 6. But it displays only the edited one. If you tap edit again you have a new option called Revert.
2. I would not prefer to keep both the photos displayed to me because they will appear as duplicates to me.
3. When you edit a video (Not clipping) then you do not have the option to save it as another video, it behaves exactly as the edited photos behave.
4. If you are comparing photos with videos then it is not an Apple to Apple comparison as photos do not have a clipping option.
5. There is already a function to create Duplicate photos/videos on the Photos app. Tap any photo, tap share, Tap Duplicate.
6. If you have the option to save both the original and edited photos then it will consume more space on your device because you will be creating new photos. In point no. I had said iPhone keeps both the photos, I meant iOS keeps the original and edited data in the form of software and displays it to you as a new photo. In functionality, there are no new Photos created and saved on your device. It is only the original Photos + Changed Edited Data.
