MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013) onboard keyboard

Recently my MBP onboard keyboard had failed but not the whole of it. I have tried the tricks of deleting the .plist files and reset in terminal using sudo rm /Library/Preferences/com.apple.keyboardtype.plist

I was having issue with only A,S,D,F,G,H,J,K,L keys not functioning and with the tricks has bring it back to function but it not for long and it fail again. Tried to repeat the trick again but not happen anymore.

I notice that there is a missing com.apple.keyboard.plist prior to the first try using the trick. The .plist will automatically restored after delete and restart/reboot. Possibility anyone should have any idea of how to get .plist related to keyboard or any work around as I can confirm that is it not a hardware failure ( ruled out after trying the trick and it work even just once ).

NiKeHasroun,

Try these steps before replacing the keyboard;

"If the issue returns after leaving safe mode, startup items are probably at fault. Apps can install such items in numerous places, and they aren't always easy to find or recognize. For that reason, you should first make sure that you've installed any available updates for your Apple software and third-party apps.

If updating your software doesn't help, try any of these solutions:

  • Test your login items.
  • To learn whether software in your user account is causing the issue, set up a new user account, then log in to it and try to reproduce the issue in that account.
  • Unplug all accessories from your Mac, including printers, drives, USB hubs, and other nonessential devices. You could have an issue with one or more of those devices or their cables.
  • Reinstall macOS.

If you still need help, please contact Apple Support."

Cheers!
