AirPods Pro - Chime while changing modes TOO LOUD
Two questions:
(1) Has anyone found workarounds to allow mode changes [ANC<>Transparency<>Off] without getting their ears BLASTED by the chime?
(2) Is there any indication that Apple is working on a fix for this EGREGIOUS, DANGEROUS design flaw?
The only thing I've found that seems to help is: (in iOS) Settings > Sounds.. > Headphone Safety > Reduce Loud Sounds > 75 decibels [limit]. Although the resulting chime volume is still quite loud (unless I've already lost these frequencies) *and* general sound quality suffers, this is far less painful and damaging than the ULTRA-LOUD FIXED DEFAULT SETTING (WTH!!!)
Chime volume cannot (otherwise) be controlled by users. Multiple confirmations of this by more competent Apple Community Specialists can be found by searching "Support > Communities" for [ airpods+pro+chime ]; these Specialists also provide a link to send feedback to Apple. Well over 1K people have asked about this in just the last year. Based on users' descriptions of the seriousness of the problem, I'm assuming that *many* have sent their feedback to Apple - apparently to no avail.
Unless I can find an affirmative answer to (1) and/or (2) I'll be returning these otherwise fantastic AirPods Pros to Amazon, along with my (sadly) absolutely scathing review to "AVOID THIS PRODUCT IF YOU VALUE YOUR HEARING".
