Importing CD into Apple Music

I'm having problems importing CD tracks into Apple Music. Everything starts off OK with CD details and tracks recognized. First track imports correctly but doesn't then move on to subsequent tracks - tries to import the first one again and so gives the Replace/Don't replace/Cancel option box. Pressing replace or Don't replace doesn't help. Happens on different CDs so not a CD issue I think. Running Big Sur 11.5.2

Had no problems in the past with older versions of MacOS and itunes

Anyone else having / had this problem ?

Thank you for your reply. This didn't make any difference - but replacing the CD drive has !

Not sure why, as it has been working fine in the past but I think that must be the answer.
