My friend iphone 11 got stollen last night after like an hour he received this sms (screenshot) in his another phone number. Its weird as he had not logged in to iCloud to set it to loss mode. Is this sms legit?
After accessing this link he lost access to track it.

But they may have only used his password to enable them to bypass activation lock and they may not have changed the password on his account. Activation Lock for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

It is a scam that is attempting to get him to divulge his Apple ID password.
