I have a newest imac w/ M1 chip.

I have a imac with magic keyboard M1 chip.

i can’t seem to have the keyboard to insert a new line in a cell just like i can on windows (alt + enter)

google says use (ctrl option enter OR control command enter) but it does not work.

please help

Try just option+enter, without the control key.

A cell of what? It sounds like you may be using a spreadsheet but we have no idea which you may be using . Please refer to Writing an effective Apple Support Communities Question and please write a more desciptive question. We know you are using Big Sur but going forward always state a complete question and include the version of Mac OS you are using and which model year iMac you have.

Got it, please contact Microsoft for support for Office for Mac or Office 365. Microsoft also hosts forums for Office for Mac. You can find them by clicking https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/office-for-mac/bd-p/OfficeforMac


I also Googled and was able to find:


To start a new line in an Excel cell, you can use the following keyboard shortcut: For Windows – ALT + Enter. For Mac – Control + Option + Enter.
