I cannot exit of of the app on my iPad it has a home screen button and no matter how many times I try and press it, it will not turn off and I cannot exit out of the app even if I try to reset it, it will not turn off and I have tried everything

When you are stuck in Guided Access mode, you are really stuck as the typical triple tap on the home button to quit out of Guided Access doesn't work. Even a forced exit won't work because the power button and the home button are disabled.
The only way to get out of Guided Access is to press the Home and Power button together for 15 seconds. This should turn off Guided Access by forcibly rebooting your device. Once your device is restarted, you can then go to Settings > Accessibility > Guided Access > Guided Access - and turn off Guided Access if needed.

You might want to try to triple click the home button, as switch control might be enabled. Though if it is enabled, you would need a password to disable it. I'm not sure how it could have been enabled, as a prank maybe, so you might want to ask anyone who had access to your iPad for the password.
