How to duplicate a iMovie project using iPad?

2021-09-02

This information is not current and does not work:

You can duplicate a movie or trailer by saving it to a device and then importing it back to the same device.

  1. In the Projects browser, tap the project you want to duplicate.
  2. Tap the Share button , then tap Export Project.
  3. A progress indicator appears during the export. The duplicate project has the same name as the original, with a version number appended (for example, Kauai Trail Biking 1).
  4. Tap Save to Files, then tap On My iPhone.
  5. Tap Save, tap X, then tap Projects to return to the Projects browser.
  6. Tap the More Options button , then tap Import Project.
  7. Tap the name of the project that you just saved.

Also in this forum, I have found no way to select a topic for iPad or to edit this post and change it to another topic.

I figured it out. The Help info needs to be updated to something like this:

You can duplicate a movie or trailer by saving it to a device and then importing it back to the same device.

  1. In the Projects browser, tap the project you want to duplicate.
  2. Tap the Share button , then tap at the top of the dialog box (dialog box was the nomenclature for Apple’s “Finder” since the 80s. “Finder” is far superior to iPad iOS). (We cannot separate design from integrity. So you have to find the person who has throttled the iPad file management system and question their integrity)
  3. The dialog box changes to another dialog box for Options. Tap Options. (It’s just below the name of the project)
  4. Change the Type from Video to Project. (It always defaults to Video) Tap <Back to close the Options dialog box.
  5. Tap Save to Files… A progress indicator appears during the export. The duplicate project has the same name as the original, with a version number appended and a new extension “iMovieMobile” (for example, Kauai Trail Biking 1.iMovieMobile).
  6. A new dialog box opens prompting you to navigate to where you want to save the copied (aka duplicated) project.
  7. Tap Save, then tap Projects to return to the Projects browser.
  8. Tap the More Options button , then tap Import Project.
  9. Tap the name of the project that you just saved.
  10. Call Apple or visit the store and remind them that since Steve Jobs got sick and passed away that WE CANNOT SEPARATE DESIGN FROM INTEGRITY. Whoever is responsible for the bad UX, File Management, and Information Architecture on the iPad for this long needs to have their integrity examined.
