Trying to figure out how to setup my wife’s phone so she has a separate Apple ID on the family sharing plan.
wife’s phone and my phone currently share my Apple ID, I want to get my wife setup with her own and not lose anything on her phone?
like contacts in particular, don’t want her to lose any of that..
both phones are iPhone 11’s

When changing to the new ID, there may be some data loss, but you can minimize it. If syncing photos with iCloud, ensure Optimization is turned off in Settings/Your Name/iCloud/Photos and/or in Photos/Preferences/iCloud. Then make sure full resolution photos are on the device/computer. When signing out of iCloud, if asked whether you want to retain data, choose yes. Messages conversations will be lost if they are addressed to the ID. See the article below for other places that the old ID should be removed. See Winston Churchill's response in the below discussion. If possible, also set up Family Sharing between the IDs to keep access to your apps/purchases.

Sharing Apple ID is a mistake.
Share a contact
Tap a contact, tap Share Contact, then choose a method for sending the contact information.
Sharing the contact sends all of the info from the contact’s card.
Oh it definitely is and we’ve been doing it since 2012… only recently it has become a problem..
wouldn’t the easier way be to make sure her backup is current and just restore a backup so she has her phone the way it is now?
I may just make a genius appointment so this doesn’t get screwed up for her..
