Apple watch 3 and Iphone 6

Thank you so much for your answer. It is my father phone and I can't convinced him to use the newer phone. Is there any chance how to connect or can he use apple watch without iphone? Thank you

The only way to use a watch with an iphone 6 is if you could find a watch running WatchOS5 or lower,the only other option is to upgrade the phone.
