Finder disconnects network shares with "Server Connections Interrupted" error

I'm pulling my hair out here as I can not access a folder on my NAS via Finder.

  • ensured permissions to folder are correct
  • disabled AFP on NAS
  • ensured SMB settings are Mac OS Big Sur friendly
  • Able to access same share via Explorer in Windows 10 installed virtually on same device using Parallels Desktop

MacBook Air (Retina, 13-inch, 2020)

macOS Big Sur 11.5.2

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.5
