Finder disconnects network shares with "Server Connections Interrupted" error

I'm pulling my hair out here as I can not access a folder on my NAS via Finder.

ensured permissions to folder are correct
disabled AFP on NAS
ensured SMB settings are Mac OS Big Sur friendly
Able to access same share via Explorer in Windows 10 installed virtually on same device using Parallels Desktop

MacBook Air (Retina, 13-inch, 2020)

macOS Big Sur 11.5.2
