Apostrophe automatically leading to accented letters

I have some issue with my mac where when I type ' then it needs a double space aferwards, otherwise it tries to turn it into an accent, so if I type ' -> a then it creates: á

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.5

Go to system preferences > keyboard > input sources and get rid of the item called US International PC. Instead you need to use input sources with the names "US" or "ABC" or "British".


(US International PC is a special layout aimed at former Windows users who are used to this way of creating accents more easily)
