I might suspect your drive has failed.

If you have an external boot clone as part of your backup plan, Try booting off that bypassing the internal HD as a test.

Like wise you can boot from a Time Machine back up and use the Disk Utility there—

 Disk Utility> run the First Aid on your Macintosh HD If errors are found and repaired, run again until no errors reported.

Disk Utility>View>Show All Devices The best sequence is —

• Volume level

• Container level

• Parent drive

My goto fix is to reinstall the OS so I did that but now it no longer proceeds after the loading bar for logging in gets completed. Do you have the recovery keys? Leroy, can Apple Store potentially recover if Marcus has the FileVault key?

Ok but can you use the menu bar at that point? Is there an Erase Mac option in the menu bar?
