Importing Music Gives: Do you want the application "mediasharingd" to accept incoming connections?

Importing Some Music Began a Popup Message:

The Message:*

"Do you want the application "mediasharingd" to accept incoming connections?"

When this Began:

Having recently imported some mp3 files into the Music app, that is when this started to occur.

When the Popup Starts:

Upon login, I instantaneously get the above message. It then right away disappears.

A Screenshot:

To get a screenshot, I recorded the login session with my iPhone's camera and took a screenshot of it when pausing it while running the video with QuickTime Player.*

To Rid Of It:

To rid of it, I enabled Media Sharing and Home Sharing, and it went away, now having been blocked.

The Location:**

Hovering over it in Firewall Options of System Preferences, I get the item's location:

/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/AMPSharing.framework/Versions/A/Support/mediasharing

What is this exactly?

I called Apple, and they're not certain. It seems I am all set, now having blocked it out. But what is this?

Hey tt2,

Importnat Update:

Setting this Up Anew Fixed it. So, I went and did all the reforming, contacted the developers (getting all applications to successfully be reinstalled free-of-charge), and nothing has popped up since. I wanted to give it a couple of days until I got back to you on this. Not so certain as to why this all happened. But, nothing of that sort pops up. It must have been a misconfiguration or a site I visited for streaming videos. I may never know the reason behind this. But the macOS reinstall fixed it all. So, I am all set, popup-wise.

Thanks again.

Thank you again tt2.

TMB Restoration:

I would assume as built-in Apple components, they are acting as they should. But, maybe they're not, and are just highjacked. I think I'm going to restore from a TMB, and see if I no longer get this error. Expect a reply soon, after my restore.

I say "highjacked" because something else is occurring, and I don't know if its relevant in any manor: Various applications keep quitting unexpectedly. And it's intermittent, but occurs when I'm using my computer. So, take a look at the following message. Mail is being shared in a manor: To the eMail Provider (Microsoft).

Not sure what happened to my previous reply to this thread, but FWIW when I look at my settings on my M1 MacBook Air running Big Sur I have both of the Automatically allow... options enabled, while Enable stealth mode is not checked. I assume these are the default settings as I'm not conscious of having changed them. Do you use Home Sharing or file sharing at all? Blocking components in the way you have done may prevent those services from operating correctly.

Thank you kindly for the reply tt2.

I'm not certain about my reply either.

No. I do not use Home Sharing or file sharing. Apple had me remove all six of those items from the list. Then, they had me enable the top Automatically allow..., and enable Stealth Mode. I've since disabled Stealth Mode. Now, it no longer comes up, having removed them all from Firewall Settings, and selecting only the top Automatically allow... option.

But, are these all blocked out now? That's my only concern here.
