Logic pro graphics suddenly started lagging when using plugins

Hi,

I'm having a real pain of an issue as I'm doing a sound mix for a video. Logic works absolutely fine on my base macbook 16 inch 2020 but as soon as I added a plugin, logics own compressor for example, the whole GUI crashes making the project unworkable.

We've all had laggy graphics when working with logic but this is some new level of lagginess from just one plugin on one audio track. This started happening earlier this week in my music projects but figured that it was just some general cpu lag after having done a lot of work on the computer the days before.

I tried creating a new account on my mac as per this article: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT200260 and it actually worked, so I'm wondering what I should do since it does not give a solution.

Does anyone have a solution or have you experienced the same thing with plugins being the issue? I have safe-started my mac etc already...

It doesn't matter which plugin I was using, third-party or not as specified in the original post with the logic compressor as example.

I did try to remove all preferences but didn't do the trick for some reason. At last I solved the issue by uninstalling logic and redownloading it, so perhaps the preferences removal missed some files hidden somewhere...

Hi,

Is the first plugin you try from Apple or a Third Party?

If a new/clean account works there is the possibility that your preferences are messed up. In the support article mentioned by Pancenter see the steps for resetting and/or deleting your preferences.

Since you are on Big Sur also make sure ALL devices, plugins and and MIDI related drivers FULLY support Big Sur. Lots of issues with legacy apps. Start in the plugin manager and make sure all plugins are validated.

Hope this helps.
