iPad Pro 12.9" 2nd gen Stuck on Boot loop and bright spots on the left side

I've already tried the restoring and updating via recovery mode connected to my MacBook Pro a few times to no avail.

After the restore process is completed My iPad Pro is stuck on the white screen with the apple logo and when I press the home button it would keep looping showing spinning gear, a flashing apple logo, spinning gear over and over again.

Sometimes the screen would stay on the apple logo for a while and then the loop would start again.

There is also the problem with the bright spots on the left side of the iPad. I've taken this iPad to the apple store but they're quoting me around $600 to replace since it was out of warranty for a couple of months.

I've searched online and this forum for similar case but can't find a solution. Hopefully someone who had a similar issue and had it fixed can chime in.

The “stage-lighting” issue is caused by partial delimitation of the screen backlighting. The screen is illuminated from LEDs placed around the periphery of the screen. When the fault becomes visible, you see bright patches of light around the edges of the screen.

This fault appears to be a characteristic of the first and second generation iPad Pro 12.9” - complaints of which of seen with some regularity.  The only resolution is screen-replacement - which usually entails and our-of-warratny exchange through Apple or an Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP). The repair cost via Apple is typically c.60% of the “as new” price of the iPad - and where exchanged, you will receive a reconditioned iPad of exactly the same model and specification as the device that it replaces.

Given your screen issue, combined with other problems, it may be most cost-effective to cut your losses - and use the money that you would otherwise spend on a repair/exchange towards the cost of a much newer and more powerful iPad.

This is perhaps not the outcome that you were hoping to find, but many contributors here would advocate that you consider a newer iPad, instead of repairing the old, as the “smart” option.

I am in need of a tablet but am hesitant to spend another $1000 on another ipad that may or may not have the same issue. I’m hoping I can just fix the boot loop issue or perhaps switch to the surface or galaxy (pending research into known problems).

Seeing that “stage-lighting” is a pretty common issue within the 1st 2 generation why wouldn’t apple extend an out of warranty replacement since the fault lies with the manufacturer.
