External Keyboards not working with iPad Pro M1

Hi guys, I was hoping to get some advice/guidance on what to do with this issue I have with my iPad. I recently purchased an iPad Pro 2021 and have tried to use external keyboards with it for typing. However I think there maybe a bug.

Everytime I press the following keys on any of the wireless keyboard, the following movements occur:

7 (cursor moves up diagonally to the left)

8 (cursor moves up diagonally)

9 (cursor moves up diagonally to the right)

u (cursor moves to the right)

i (cursor mimics a select/press option)

o (cursor moves to the left)

l (Diagonal left)

j (diagonal right

k (downwards)

I’ve tried to tinker around with all the setting in the keyboard section, including the keyboard type as ‘English>QWERTY’, putting the keyboard shortcut settings back to default, restarting the iPad etc.

This has happened with the Logitech Combo Touch, Keychron K4 and Keychron K2 keyboards. I suspect it’s an iPad software bug/glitch as both the Keychron keyboard work perfectly when connected wirelessly with my Mac Mini.

Has anyone got any ideas on what I could do next? Or is my last ditch option a full factory reset? I’ve also booked an appointment at the Genius Bar this Tuesday at my local Apple Store but I fear that they will advise a factory reset. Is there anything else I could try before I resort to this?

Thanks

You can factory reset. But there is a better and faster way.

  1. Go to Settings, Accessibility and select Touch.
  2. Select AssistiveTouch, then select Mouse Keys.

I hope this helps. Have a great day.
