Auto recognizing exercise

When I first got my Apple Watch 6, after walking for 10 min it would ask “are you outdoor walking” and recognize my exercise. After about 2 weeks it stopped that, wouldn’t ask, wouldn’t track. I don’t know if I changed a setting I wasn't supposed to. I tried recalibration a few times, and I went on a 5 hour hike and after 40 min it still was not recognizing I was walking or tracking my exercise. Any suggestions?

The more exercise that you do means that the heart doesn't have to beat as fast to do the same amount of work because you're getting fitter so the 75% becomes a little harder to reach because you have to put a bit more effort in.

It's the watches way of encouraging you to get ever fitter.
