This message pops up every time I'm importing fresh audios into older projects on my Lacie drive.

Ive just updated to Big Sur, and 10.6.3 Logic Pro. and this issue came along with it.

I have found a fix to Manually Open the track in Quick time and Export it as an Audio on my local system.

Only then does it import into Logic.

Does anyone have a permanent Fix for this?

iMac 27″, macOS 11.5

ExFat.

The codecs are fine.

The wav files are also fine.

Ive moved my Logic session from the Lacie to the desktop, and the files import perfectly into the session timeline.

As long as the session is opened from the Lacie directly, I cannot import audio into my timeline, though the newly imported files seem to be copying to my audio files folder, they don't show up on the session while showing this error.

Hi,

What is the formatting of the LaCie drive? If FAT or FAT32 that could be the issue and try a copy to a drive formatted for Apple and test an import.. Also the CODECs have all been changing post Catalina and you may need to update old wav files as needed.

It's not recommended to work with Logic on FAT(-family) formatted drives. It's well known for getting serious issues. Transferring files is the only reason you should use FAT-formatted drives but never work on them with Logic.

Hi,

The issue is most likely due to the drive being formatted in ExFAT. As first suggested test with an external drive formatted to an Apple format.

Hi Ben!

Thanks for that.

The problems began after updated to Big Sur, else everything was flawless for years.

I'm going ahead with formatting it to Mac OS Extended Journaled.

Hopefully that should do the trick.
