What cable I need to get 144hz on my second monitor

I've searched the internet and found out that you can get 144hz on you second monitor attached to MacBook if you buy USB-TYPE C to Displayport cable. My question is, can I achieve the same results if I buy USB-TYPE C to HDMI cable.

MacBook Pro (2020 and later)

Three things:

  1. Your mac should support/be able to get the required resolution/frequency of the output.
  2. The type of ports supported on your mac with the limitations and the type of connecting cable used.
  3. Modes/Resolutions supported by the monitor/display with the type of input ports.

Please see "Refresh frequency limits for standard video" from the link (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI).

So depending on the HDMI version you should be able to.

Hope it helps.
