Canon MG6821 Won't print over WiFi with Catalina

Since updating to Catalina, my Canon MG6821 printer will not print or scan over WiFi. The printer is visible in the print dialog but as soon as I click Print, I get an error "Error while printing".

The printer is visible in the Canon IJ Network utility and is configured to use the same network as my Mac.

The printer is in the list of supported AirPrint printers and has worked fine before upgrading to Catalina.

I can print to it successfully from my iPad and iPhone.

I have installed the latest Canon printer driver.

MacBook Air (2020 or later)

Have you tried any of the following:

1 - what's discussed in this Apple document: Reset the Mac printing system to solve a problem - Apple Support

2 - Since the printer is AirPrint compatible remove it from the System/Printers & Scanners preference pane, add it back with AirPrint or wireless, whichever pops up.
