Find my iPhone

My boyfriend had bought an iPhone 8 from another dealer almost two years ago. At the moment it is in a boot loop. He hasn’t used the phone for a year now. Now he is using an iPhone 11 Pro with a different iCloud account and he has changed his phone number last year as well.

I have tried applying for the repair. However, they keep telling us that the find my iPhone feature is still on. I have turned the feature off in the iCloud that he says was logged in to the iPhone 8.

They told us again that the feature was on.

To be able to fully log in to the ICloud account to maybe see if there is something else going on, I have applied to restore the account (because he doesn’t have access to the linked phone number anymore).

This might take a few weeks.

I have tried to completely wipe the phone via iTunes , but that doesn’t seem to work and it stays in the boot loop.

Does anyone have any tips for me on how to fix this? I just want the whole phone wiped to be able to send it for repair.

Also, with Rudegar’s great info, it sounds like you’ve started Account recovery which is a two phase process once started. Phase 1 is the evaluation period, usually 24-48 hours but can be longer or shorter. This phase says Apple is evaluating your info and you’ll get an update after the posted time is over (people mistakenly think it means they’ll be able to reset the password immediately after this first phase.)

Once phase 1 is done it enters phase 2 where https://iforgot.apple.com/ will give you the final amount of days (can be weeks) you’ll wait. On that final day you’ll get a text, follow that text/email immediately.
