iPhone 11 smart battery case

Scenario 1: iPhone 11 + official Apple charger cable = good and indicates it’s charging in top right hand corner w/ lighting bolt

Scenario 2: iPhone 11 smart case + official Apple charger cable = orange/green light inside (sometimes but not at always (might need to mess with cord or leave case alone for a few minutes before light indicator turns on))

Scenario 3: iPhone 11 + smart case = nothing/ no charge, (not even indicated on batteries widget that the case is even plugged in (takes a minute or two before case is recognized and starts charging))

Scenario 4: iPhone 11 + smart case + official cable = same situation as scenario 3

please help 😢

main question: It used to indicate immediately after plugging anything into phone, so why does it take a minute now to show any indication that something is plugged into the other?

iPhone 11, iOS 14

But when plugged in, the case does not display any light after a few minutes. The cord charges the iPhone no problem and indicates the phone is charging immediately after plugging in. Meaning that there is nothing wrong with the phone or cord. The case on the other hand won’t display a light at all only after a few minutes. It’s not immediate.

Hi, Shmishy.

Thanks for getting back to us. We understand that the amber light doesn’t stay on while charging. Does your case appear to charge fully?

If not, you can use these steps from the same resource:

“If your Smart Battery Case won't charge or charges slowly

Follow these steps. Try to charge again after each step:

  1. Unplug your Lightning to USB cable from power, and then plug it back in.
  2. If your iPhone is attached to the case, remove the case. Then try to charge your iPhone and your case separately.
  3. If you have a film, sticker, or label on the back of your iPhone, remove it.
  4. Reattach your case.

If you’re using a Qi-certified wireless charging mat to charge the Smart Battery Case for iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, or iPhone XR, make sure that there’s nothing between the case and the wireless charging mat. Also, center the Apple logo—on the back of the Smart Battery Case—on the charging mat. Or place your iPhone where the manufacturer recommends. ” Charge your iPhone with your Smart Battery Case

Warmly.

Greetings, Shmishy.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. We can understand why you’d want to know about the lights on your Smart Battery Case.

"You'll see an amber status light while the case is charging. When the case is fully charged, you'll see a green status light.” Charge your iPhone with your Smart Battery Case

We hope this helps! Thanks for being a part of the community.

Sincerely.
