HomePod/HomeKit sunrise sunset not working

I've installed two new HomePod Mini's and HomeKit refuses to allow me to use sunset/sunrise to trigger automations. I even factory reset the HomePods and tried again but same results, no sunset/sunrise automations would work.

Searching for this anomaly has returned next to zero results. Apple's answers have seemed ambiguous at best. I can't be the only one on the planet that is experiencing this. It must be a setting deep within the catacombs of my iPhone settings but so far every experiment has ended the same way, failure.

There must be someone out there who can point me in the right direction. I'm desperate as my family is beginning to call me incompetent and threatening a mutiny.
