iPhone 12 iOS 14.8 CarPlay

iPhone 12 iOS 14.8 CarPlay no longer has sound on incoming or outgoing calls. I have to disconnect the usb cable to place or receive a call. Phone is pared with the car. It connects via bluetooth if the cable is not connected. Once the cable is connected it goes to CarPlay mode and bluetooth disconnects. Subaru Outback with recent firmware update.

CarPlay defaults to Phone Call Whenever I connect my iPhone 12 ProMax to wired Car Play, I get no audio from the car or iPhone. When I try to adjust the volume, the car’s display says “adjusting phone volume” even though no phone call is active. So apparently CarPlay thinks that there is an active call even though there is none. I have to restart the iPhone while connected to CarPlay; then it works as expected. But the next time I reconnect to CarPlay, the same thing happens. I have to restart the phone every time. It worked fine until yesterday, when this started happening.

Why can't I make or receive calls with iPhone 14 Pro in my car? My new iPhone 14 pro connects to my car via bluetooth, but I can only control and play music or podcasts, not make or receive phone calls. I've tried unpairing and pairing my phone with my car, checking my settings, but nothing works. When a call comes in it is on the phone only, so I can't answer while driving. As soon as the call is over (or the phone stops ringing), whatever music or podcast was playing at the time the call came in continues. I do not have CarPlay, and my iPhone 11Pro never had this problem. What am I doing wrong? [Edited by Moderator]

Carplay Issues I Have just updated the media unit in my car to Carplay I have an Iphone 12 Pro Max with the latest updates. I can make/receive phone calls using Car Play with no issues, nice clear audio, except when I call my wife's IPhone 12 Pro Max. I can see on the screen, the Device is making the call, but there is no audio at all. I can not hear the ring tone or both of us hear each other. Its the same when I connect my wife's iPhone to the CarPlay, no audio at all when I call my iPhone. It is only our two phones that have the audio issues. I called my iPhone 7 (I use for work) using both phones with no issues. When I disconnect the Carplay and connect to the Media Unit via Bluetooth there are no issues with both phones. I have gone through the settings on both phones tp make sure thy are set the same. Is there something I'm missing, a setting that turns off Carplay ???

If you're already using the latest firmware update for your Subaru, then we recommend contacting Apple Support directly to look into this further.
