Family share Apple Watch connection

Have been trying to connect to my sons Apple Watch to change some of the contacts info but keep getting a message on my phone that says Apple can’t connect to the watch to make sure it’s on and close by. We’ll it’s at 100% charge and right next to my phone. Not sure what the issue is or how to fix it. I tried turning on/off both devices, trying to go in manually and enter a contact on the watch and still can’t do it. Any ideas how to fix this?
