My phone keeps putting a 1 in front of the phone numbers when I text. This stops it from being able to send the text. How do I stop that ?

My iPhone 11 puts a +1 in front of a new phone number when I text. Making the phone number 11 numbers and invalid. How can I get it to stop? I have tried to turn off the dial assist but that did not work. I also made sure I was using iCloud for my contacts and restarted. Nothing has worked.

Hi neal6160, We appreciate you reaching out to us. We understand that your device automatically adds a +1 in front of a new phone number when you text.

Is your device set to the correct region?

Also, are you using a VPN on your device, on your router, or access point?

In the meantime, we recommend updating your children's devices if you haven’t.

While it isn't inherently assured that an update will resolve the issue, updating to the latest version of iOS for your device can help isolate potential software issues.

Kindly secure a backup and update.

Next, we recommend that you check for any carrier updates.

The article below may help.

Take care!
