I cannot find the Apple News App on MacBook Pro and need help finding / re-installing.
Currently:
Any thoughts for solutions, please, I think I've tried everything and it's driving me crazy.

The Apple News application is present in ALL macs, but depending on the region, it may be hidden.
Press Command-Shift-A to open the Applications folder, and then press Command-Shift-period to toggle the viewing of hidden files.

The News application is in every mac running Catalina or Big Sur, but it may be hidden, depending on region (I know because I am in Portugal, and still I have it on my mac).
Try going to the Applications folder and pressing command-shift-period to show hidden files.
You will see News

And does it indicate your location as Australia in System Preferences->Date & Time->Time Zone?
Another possibility: do you have Location Services activated? And is News checked in the Location Services area of
System Preferences->Security & Privacy->Privacy?
Without it, your mac may not make full use of the features that are region-restricted.
If wanted back in Dock - in application folder Drag and Drop the News Application into the Dock. This will make an Alias in the Dock

Using your method I was able to find the hidden News app in my Applications folder, but when I thought my troubles were over, I realized that I'm not able to unhide the app. Any ideas on how to overcome this issue? After opening the app I kept it at the Dock and programmed it to open at login, which is some sort of a solution but I still can't wrap my head around the mysterious absence of the app, especially the fact that it still doesn't appear in the App Store ( I did check the Hidden Items tab!), or the fact that I'm unable to add it to the iCloud Sharing in the Share Menu (screenshot attached) which is probably why it doesn't appear in the app list using iCloud under Apple ID in System Preferences (screenshot attached). Any ideas appreciated!

Was aware here were issues with Certain News Feeds from outside of Australia being blocked from Broadcasting inside Australia.
It was a reach to explain why the Apple News Application was not appearing on the computer.
It all seems correct, then.
I don't know if there has been a change in availability there. Maybe P. Phillips's comment is on the mark.
Maybe someone who is in Australia like you can give more information, and let us know if they can or cannot access News there.
Apple " News Application " should appear - normally - in the Dock.
What appears in the Dock for Apple News is actually an Alias to the same named application residing in the Applications folder.
Thanks for your answer mate. The Apple News App in my case was completely missing from the dock!
No Political statement or judgements here - Canada - but did not the Australia Government start Blocking certain News Feed within the Downunder if $$ were not being paid to someone.??
Don't quite get what you're trying to say. FYI I have a subscription and the News app works just fine on my iPhone and iPad
