iOS 15 Messages Notifications Not Working

I take it back. Audio notification of incoming text messages is broken again. What broke it was turning on Text Message Forwarding in Settings > Messages so that I could send and receive text messages on my iMac, etc. Even turning Text Message Forwarding back off did not fix the audio notification problem. I've reported this to my Senior Apple Advisor, who is reportedly in touch with Apple engineering.

I tried this a couple of nights ago after I saw your message. It worked for the night for me, but the next day, I was right back to square one, and not getting any audio or visual alerts for my text messages.

I have another phone call scheduled with my Apple Senior Advisor for this evening. I don't expect he'll do anything but collect my information and analytics, and forward them to his engineering department.

I just had a meeting with my senior advisor. He informed me that the engineering team escalated this issue to an even higher engineering team.

Apparently the engineering team did identify the issue. The senior advisor did not share with me what the issue was but assured me that they have gathered all the information they needed from me which included screenshots and logs.

Now this escalated engineering team is working on the fix. From what I gather there is no anticipated timeline known for the release of this fix.

Fingers crossed, I hope it comes with 15.4.

I think we should all bill Apple for testing their iOS that they persist in releasing before it has been thoroughly tested and debugged. I've spent about 25 hours troubleshooting problems with 15.3.1, including repairing damage caused by Apple "advisors".

If you're referring to the fact that e-mail doesn't always open to the inbox, I have the same issue, and have been on the phone with Apple support for hours over it. They assure me engineering is working on it.

I have a call scheduled with my senior advisor for this evening to update me on the text notification, Mail, and Calendar issues. The Calendar issue is similar to the Mail issue. The opening page for Calendar is often a specific event rather than the calendar view. I'll post a summary of the call here.

Still no text message notifications on my 8 plus after downloading IOS 15.4. All of the settings are fine, no different than last Dec when the notifications were working. I'd appreciate some feedback as to whether or not 15.4 solved other folk's issues so I can determine whether or it is the 8 plus which is the problem and not the updates.

I just initiated warranty replacement of my iPhone 13 Pro because of this issue. It's costing me $32 to receive the replacement phone before I send mine back. I don't know if this will fix the text notification problem, but at least this option is costing Apple money, which will hopefully get their attention.

Yes, I could do the iCloud experiment, but I've already spent over 40 hours troubleshooting this issue, including over 20 hours on the phone with about six so-called Apple Support Advisors. I'm tired of providing free β-testing for Apple when they're too lazy and greedy to do it themselves before releasing a new product.

I have the 12 phone and have not gotten any RED notifications since iOS 14. I have widgets & icon covers. The notification problem was right after that.

It has been a year that I have had to do a work around to not receive the drop down notifications from the top of the screen.

Several YouTube users have suggested to do a shortcut for all apps & also go to Screen Time/activity & at the bottom of the screen you see the days of the week. You go back till you see one that has shortcuts. Then you turn off the drop down notifications.

It will work temporarily. I guess 50% of the time I don't get the drop down. And if you have to reboot for any reason then you must go back thru the last task of Screen time. It's really annoying.

So in order to stop the drop down I go through that AND still do not have notifications for any calls, texts, calendar.

Very annoying & I can't believe it isn't fixed yet.

How will we know when it is fixed? Keep looking here or what???

First time using an iphone and this is happening to me too! On WhatsApp and signal. I got in trouble at work for not responding my WA. I really hope this gets fixed asap, or I'll have to switch back to Samsung.

Yes, I completely erased my phone and started with a brand new iOS. This was all done under the direction of Apple "Support", and it didn't fix the problem. In total, I spent about 20 hours on the phone with about 6 different Apple "Support" people, including several hours with a high level support guy. I don't know if I can remember everything he had me try, but it was everything he could think of, and nothing worked. It's hard for me to believe this was a hardware issue, since others have reported the same issue with different phones. But for the moment, audio notifications of text messages is working again.

Now that you mention it, one of my contacts (that I know of) also got mysteriously muted recently.
