Google maps while using CarPlay freezes after 15 minutes.

That could certainly be the case. Updating CarPlay will vary by car model. As mentioned in How to connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your car, you may be able to find that in your car's user manual. If not, your car manufacturer can assist further.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that the Google Maps app is freezing when your iPhone is connected to CarPlay.

Does Google Maps freeze on your iPhone when not connected to CarPlay? Do any other apps freeze or stop working when you are connected to CarPlay?

Try the steps from If you need help with CarPlay which will resolve most CarPlay issues.

thank you for your response. Google maps, Apple Maps and Waze freeze after few minutes and CarPlay becomes sluggish. I am wondering if I need to upgrade CarPlay. But, I have no idea how to do it. Thanks!
