Battery drain in WatchOS 8 on Apple Watch 6

Updating to WatchOS 8.1 has resolved the issue for me. Battery is back as it should be.

So far so good after unpair/pair and restart as “new watch”. After 11 hrs from last full charge I am at 76%

I was having the same issue. I noticed my storage (for media) was full. I did the unpair/pair and it seems to be working correctly now.

Tbh mine was both up 2 date & the problem happened after the latest update. I was told 2 unpair then pair again & that seems 2 have helped👍🏻

For me, it was email. It had maxed my media storage and at the same time messages were being pushed to the watch. Once I disabled mail, all was well and good in the world.

Hey guys. I solved this here. Just do the unpair. When u pair the Applewatch, DONT use the backup. Start as a new watch.

I did the unpair and re pair yesterday then had the watch on charge all night. Have had it on since about 0800 and now 1630 and still have 70% left. Apple Pay working off the watch now as well. Hope it stays like this.

Just thinking out loud, as mine self-corrected after a few days. For those that still have the problem, have you re-started your watch and the phone? Might be some app that gets hung up.

What worked for me is to disable lte on the watch when not connected to the iPhone, using only wlan hotspots on the go.

I deleted Telegram and the battery’s good again. So maybe anyone can try this. Certain apps are killing the battery.

For me the problem seems to be solved with WatchOS 8.3 and iOS 15.2.

Series 3 owner here with same issue. Was having to charge watch twice a day to keep it going. A restore-from-backup done last night that seems to have fixed it….

like you, I also am seeing odd issues with the activity rings. The app itself on the watch has gotten very sluggish

I was getting this 1% drain every 2 minutes, too. Brand new battery, two weeks old, latest version of software on Watch and iphone X. Verizon. It seems that when I hard reboot the watch, this problem goes away for a few days, but still playing around to learn more. I make sure that no apps are running by quitting everything and turning off cellular and always being next to my Apple phone. Strange bug I guess. I also turned off intelligent charging.

I got told by support yesterday that i needed to update to 8.1 and my phone to 15.1 and that should help 🤞🏽

I notice that when I disable location services that it kinda stopped the battery drain, but again, didn’t have to do it with my LTE Series 3 watch as it seems to be working normal.
