After upgrading my icons were reduced in size and there are huge left and right margins on the iPad mini 5 in vertical mode. I am finding it harder to see due to vision. How do I fix it so the icons are larger and I properly use the margin space?
Whether using the small or large icon display option, the left and right margins seem wider than they need to be. If margin widths were reduced, the icons could have more distance between them. This new home screen layout with icons herded closer together does not seem to have a purpose other than change for change sake. The result is my icons are in different positions than they had been in the previous version and give the feeling of being packed in like sardines.

On your iPhone, tap and hold an empty space on any Home Screen page until the app icons start jiggling. Now tap the row of dots visible above the dock. This will show you thumbnails of all the Home Screen pages on your iPhone. Hold and drag any Home Screen thumbnail to rearrange its position in the Home Screen slider. Once you’re done rearranging, tap the Done button in the top-right corner and enjoy your new layout.

Please repost the solution- I don’t see it either. I hate the new layout, and the Reset Home Screen mentioned on this thread did nothing but *completely* mess up my icons and groupings. So far, this is a terrible update from Apple.
that doesn’t work for me - the setting seems to make no difference
I have my apps grouped in folders, and now they’re much smaller on the screen
And let Apple know about your issues so perhaps they bring more flexibility to the on screen layout

Still not for us, Napagal1 and JDB1975. Are you saying that you now have 5 icons across instead of 6 in landscape mode?

An iPad. The ratio now is 6 across by 4 down rather than 5 down and the icons are much larger
You say to click on the “+” in the upper left corner of what? I don’t see this symbol for adding a widget?
Landscape mode still has 6 for me. This is a quick fix for page one of portrait mode.
This does not fix the issue with big empty margins.

Be careful. This wipes out all your icon folders as well and doesn't reset the icon spacing to the way it was before the iOS 15.2.1 update!
