No sound when using Apple maps on Ios15

Try settings/maps/spoken directions then turn off “directions on radio”. That should keep the sound coming thru iphone.

As for the car try this. Go to settings, maps, spoken directions and toggle on directions on radio. I don’t know why but on my iPhone it is toggled off by default.

Maps used to have an Audio Output Selector in the previous version. We could select iPhone / Speaker / AirPods / Any other source of BlueTooth. That selector switch disappeared with iOS 15.

Now, I have to wait for the system to connect with the car BlueTooth, then I put on my AirPods, and I get back the Directions Voice Prompts.

How do we get to manually select the Audio Output now, other than this workaround?

I did download the newer version 15.2.1. Same problem. If I turn off bluetooth it works, but once I turn on bluetooth it doesn't work. I want to keep bluetooth on like I always have for incoming and outgoing calls

I downloaded the google map on my iphone and everything works including the audio for directions. If I ever hear this problem is fixed I will go back to apple maps most likely

The update corrected my “ no turn by turn audio” problem.

Go to Apple support and leave feedback about this issue. Apple reads these and if they see enough people having this issue the more likely they will address it. Here is the link. Choose Maps.

It is available for the iPhone, I am able to get the map directions on my iPhone while it is connected to Bluetooth in my vehicle. I just need to turn off the Directions on Radio switch on the phone. That stops the directions on the radio and sends them back through the iPhone. Most of the time I turn that off though, since I have the Apple Watch and get my turn directions on the Watch as well. But in heavier traffic situations, I will turn the sound back on for the iPhone. I have an iPhone 13 Pro with iOS 152.1, Apple Watch with watchOS 8.3, and this is used on a 2015 Mercedes Benz C300.

Understood. You want Apple maps turn by directions turn to play through phone speaker but phone calls and music apps to play to car via Bluetooth. Best I can tell that is not available since IOS 15. Cannot chose volume level for turn by turn separately from phone or music either. It is frustrating. I use Apple Maps for directions to point of interest destinations because the voice activation via SIRI is so simple and effective. For travel however I too use Google maps or WAZE. Each has its strong points. Unfortunately Apple Maps simply isn’t as usable as it was before IOS15.

I agree, there are no audio options in maps anymore. I want my phone to play the maps navigation audio while my phone is connected to my car through Bluetooth. The only workaround I have found is to disable Bluetooth while in my car. Oh or I use WAZE because it lets you select audio options. Apple, please fix this and bring back audio options in maps!

I saw the "reset as only remedy" option, but I am not interested in wiping my phone. I'm noticing that in the Maps 'settings' the volume option is missing all together. I'm trying to use CarPlay. Navigation works fine, but I don't have any sound.

Since installing iOS15.2 I too am unable to access a navigation voice when using Maps. Tried every trick and tip that Googling it has to offer - including Apple's own suggestions - with no luck. In the Maps app I don't even have the Navigation Voice Volume option, as that has also disappeared. When using Maps actively in navigation, I swipe up, as suggested on one site, in order to find the Navigation Volume, and that is also not there. Nor is there any Volume icon anywhere on the Maps page.

I have navigation voice back in the car now. The radio toggled 'On' - mine was also defaulted to 'Off' - appears to be the way. Still, Apple ought to address the fact that NAVIGATION VOICE VOLUME feature has vanished into thin air since the iOS15 install.

I agree. I have the same problem. I downloaded google maps on my iphone and everything works including the audio directions. I also want to keep my bluetooth on for phone calls in and out. I also downloaded the newest software version 15.2.1 that somone recommended but didn't solve the problem.

Go Here: If you Hear No Sound or Distorted Sound from your iPhone - Apple Support. Seems, the most obvious solution is enabling the Ring/Silent switch.

Whatelse to Try:

• Check: your sound settings
• Check: sound with an app
• Plug: headphones into your device
• Turn off: Bluetooth
• Restart: your device
