No sound when using Apple maps on Ios15
I have updates to iOS 15, and now have no sound (voice directions) when using the app. Checked all the obvious causes, but still nothing.
Was working perfectly up to iOS 14.8

My Fix that worked...on iPhone SE (2nd Gen) and Hyundai Santa Fe
Settings
Maps
scroll down to
Spoken Direction
tap and turn on
Directions on Radio
This appears to work if car bluetooth supports phone sound via car stereo system.
I found that if you remove the map app and add it back and leave it in the library not the Home Screen, the audible directions return.
Easy fix Go into settings-maps down to spoken directions turn on directions on radio.
In my case this works, but only if I "Disconnect" my phone BlueTooth from my 2016 BMW. Otherwise, Maps is completely silent.
To hear directions on your car radio go to settings, maps, spoken directions and toggle on directions on radio
Have you updated to iOS 15.2? ( now 15.2.1)
The update corrected my “ no turn by turn audio” problem.

Go Here: If you Hear No Sound or Distorted Sound from your iPhone - Apple Support. Seems, the most obvious solution is enabling the Ring/Silent switch.
Whatelse to Try:
madala2021,
Thank you for keeping us posted. Have you had the chance to delete Maps, then install it again?
Delete built-in Apple apps on your iOS 12, iOS 13, or iPadOS device or Apple Watch
If yes and the issue persists, we recommend that you reach out to us here so we can take a closer look into the issue: Get Support
Take care!
This issue has nothing to do with my vehicle, lol. Apple just needs to fix the functionality within Apple Maps. Again, the functionality was there with all previous versions of maps. If I turn the switch on, the audio plays through my car speakers, if I turn the switch off, the audio does not play through the speakers because the phone still has Bluetooth enabled and is connected to the car's audio, the sound cannot play through the phone speakers. The workaround is to choose to play audio through the phone even though Bluetooth is enabled and connected to the car. This used to be a feature and is now gone. Waze and Google Maps still have this feature and Waze is what I use now mostly because of this. Apple just needs to add the functionality back. I have this problem with two different brand vehicles. I do not have carplay on either vehicle either.
WOW. thanks! finally got the voice back from my phone in maps. I swiped down, selected the little airplay sign. then in Maps, I checked the small volume icon near top right, and presto -- the voice was back! thanks so much!
I found a work-around that works most of the time. Settings/maps/spoken directions/Turn off directions on radio. For me, that gives me the spoken directions through my iphone. Sometimes it doesn't work, but most of the time it does.
I checked my phone and sound recognition was already off. What corrected the issue for me was installing iOS 15.2. I suppose it is possible that 15.2 turned my sound recognition off when installed but I do not know that.
Resolved, I had to reset the Settings. Thanks for the help to resolve this
What I did was as the voice is speaking I raised the volume on the side of the phone.
Good news! Installed iOS 15.2 this morning. Taking a drive now and volume for turn by turn directions works perfectly now. This in a 2015 Audi S5.
Yes, I have the newest update. We figured out that when it is plugged into the USB to keep the phone charged, the audio won’t come through the car. That’s where the option to have the audio option back is necessary.
