Do you have the option to Maximize Compatibility?

You might find that in Settings > Personal Hotspot > Maximize Compatibility.

I have an iPad third-generation that connects to Wi-Fi. I have iPhone 13 with iOS 15 With a hotspot that works. I have maximize compatibility turned on. All the error message says “unable to join the network”.

I have an iPad 4 that fails to connect to my iPhone 12 Mini hotspot since I updated the Mini to iOS 15, but worked before, so a similar problem to you.

To add some more detail: Maximise Compatibility does not help. The hotspot is working for a newer iPad (2nd gen 12.9” Pro).

There is no option for ‘Maximize Compatibility’ in iPhone 11 and earlier. 😞

Hi mario49 I’m also unable to connect my iPod (iOS 9.3.5 - 5th gen) even with compatibility mode enabled. My friend’s iPhone 6 was also unable to connect and I think he is on some version of iOS 14

Is this likely a bug with compatibility mode if it’s supposed to support older devices?

Fyi, the ipad3 hotspot worked with ios14. It stopped when I updated to ios15.
