Where did the “Good Morning” screen go?

For the last few years, every morning after my alarm would go off, my phone would show a “good morning” screen (usually) with the daily weather forecast. Since updating to iOS15, it just shows my regular Lock Screen. I still have my sleep schedule turned on and I haven’t changed anything else besides the software update. I tried looking in the health app, downtime settings, focus settings, privacy settings, weather app settings, and general settings, and I can’t find any way to turn it back on. How can I get that screen back?

I figured out a workaround.. hopefully it works for others.

iOS15 now prompts both Do Not Disturb and Sleep to be enabled under the Focus section. Toggle off DND and leave Sleep toggled on. I’ve done this for the past 2 days and I am now getting the Good Morning screen with the weather.

Same here. This is clearly a bug.

I noticed that when having only the alarm in sleep mode set, after turning off the alarm, the good morning screen would show. However, when you set two or more alarms (the alarm in sleep mode plus one or more regular alarms from the Clock App), the wind down feature will be disabled after a regular alarm goes off. Then you won't have the good morning screen.

So if you really want to see the good morning screen to start your day, try use only the alarm from the sleep mode, and do not use the alarms from the Clock App.

But this is not a decent solution, many people need several alarms to get up on time.

WORKAROUND:

I had the exact same problem and I really was frustrated. I just found a workaround to get the Good Morning Flash screen by just turning off the SCREENTIME schedule. I used to have screen time (Downtime) scheduled almost similar to my sleep schedule. After turning off the screen time (Downtime) now I started to get the Good Morning Flash screens with weather updates. It's Great. Clearly, Apple needs to fix this issue, but temporarily this workaround is a lifesaver for me!

I discovered something - during the week I saw "Good Morning" screen everyday.

Today, on Saturday, it wasn't present :(

During the week I have an alarm clock set for 07:55 and when I dismiss it I can see "Good Morning" screen.

But on weekends I don't use any alarm, my "Sleep" focus just ends at 08:00. Earlier "Good Morning" screen just waited for me till I woke up - if I woke up at 10:00 it was still there, if at 11:00 it was still there, etc.

Now it isn't - I woke up at 09:00 and I saw "Sleep" focus simply turned of, without any welcome screen :(

So in my case alarm clock has to be set if I want to see "Good Morning" screen. I don't know if it's a bug or feature but I don't like it.

Turned off screen time and the good morning message came back. So there definitely seems to be a bug in focus. I tried to ask Apple Support on Twitter for help but they didn’t came back to me after I said I can’t use phone support atm. So much about the Apple Support 😒😔 As I like screen time, I turned it back on and the good morning screen was gone again. I’ll wait and hope they’ll fix this with the next update or so.

Because if you use DND only, "Good Morning" widget won't appear - on iOS 15 you have to set "Sleep" Focus, too.

But if you use "Sleep" mode you can't use your phone comfortably - when you swipe up after unlocking the screen you have to confirm twice you want to use your phone, it's very annoying.

So I don't want people to disturb me from 09:00 p.m. but I want to use my phone normally ;)

PS I use iP 11 so my advices may not work on your device.

PPS Yesterday and today my "Good Morning" widget showed up as expected, yaaaaaay!

The 'good morning' screen was built in and part of the Sleep Schedule. It was a lovely way to wake up.

There was also an option to turn off the alarm if the phone detected you using the phone before the alarm time. It said something like "it looks like you're awake, do you want to cancel your alarm?"

Both seem to have been removed from the latest update.

Sometimes I regret updating the IOS when favourite functions like these disappear. I wish we could be told what's been removed so we can choose to update or not.

Hi :) My "Good Morning widget" stopped working, too :/

It's worth to be noticed Apple never announced it as a feature - they just added it in iOS 12 and showed during WWDC but without any mention from the scene.

I loved it! I'm pretty sure even Apple didn't know how it worked because you didn't have to have Bed Time mode turned on. I never had it but "Good Morning widget" worked properly.

After iOS 15 update I noticed it stopped. So I scheduled the Bed Time first time in my life; it helped just for a while. Now it doesn't work, whatever I do. I'm on 15.3.

Did you tried to set your weather location as "always" in privacy settings?

Yes, I too have this concern and I guess this is all due to the Focus. Earlier we had Sleep with DND turned on and showed a Good Morning Message on iPhone along with weather. With iOS-15 We can only turn on either of Focus and not together.

Even after resetting the settings, setting up new Focus Schedule still Good Morning message is not being shown. I thought this would be fixed with iOS 15.1 however no luck yet. I pray that Apple gets back this feature or rectifies the bug.
