iOS 15 Find My live location not working for one member of my family.

Follow the instructions below:

1. Go to settings.
2. Click on the apple ID and picture at the very top
3. click Find My around the middle of the screen
4. click Find My iPhone at the very top
5. Make sure it says on and that the three toggles are green (that means all of them are on)
6. the middle toggle, "Find My network" should be on
7. To turn the middle toggle on, click the toggle and it should ask you for a password, type in the password for your Apple ID.
8. It should then ask for a password.
9. Make the password like 0000 or something simple so you remember it.
10. once you made a password, it should then be on and be working
11. If you already have a password, then you should be able to turn this on no problem.
12. If you don't have a password, you will have to make a password and then turn it off again after you make one.

Not sure why I had to have a password but it's the only way for it to work.

To turn the password off again, go to settings, Face ID & Passcode, enter the passcode you put in, and then scroll down to turn passcode off, and then re-enter the passcode one more time and then you should be good.

Now go into the Find My iPhone app and make sure it says live.

We have 3 iPhones all updated to IOS 15. The live find my works on some phones, some people, but no consistent pattern. We all have iPhone 12. For example, my daughter is live for me but not for my husband. Would love an answer.

Yes I agree with Flory14. The Apple Watch cellular seems to be the issue. When my wife drives and just takes her phone the live feature works but if she goes running with just the watch or both the watch and phone the live feature doesn’t work.

Fun times. iOS 15.4 caused live to stop working for 1 of 7 of my find my people. At first, it started saying “no location found” and then would switch to “now” after a few seconds.

i had that person remove me and add me back in (did the same on my phone) and it resolved the “no location found” but the person still doesn’t show up as live.

we are both on 15.4, they have an Apple Watch but it’s not one they wear and it isn’t cellular.

Same here, we had a mix of family using the beta versions and regular iOS. It all worked fine.

right around the final iOS rolled out they all gradually stopped working.

iphone 12 pro max. iPhone XR (x 2) and iPad Pro.

none of them work with live now which is really frustrating.

weve literally tried everything including being sent to the Apple store and talking to a genius, who’s genius answer was, it might be an app fault, might.

from what I see, the find my tries to establish a secure point to point connection with the other device, fails and then falls back to connecting to the Apple server which only updates every minute.

One thing I did notice when we were trying to figure it out, when we blocked one person in the contact folder, then unblocked them, the live feature wouldn’t work again after that point, which led me to believe that maybe the phone refuses to accept a secure connection again.

hopefully if enough people report the issue in the app they will push a fix out.

I have exactly the same issue, except I can only see one person on my list live. Everyone else gets updated as and when… I’ve also hunted high and low on how to fix this!

Same issue here. iPhone 11 running iOS 15 and my wife still appears as before in Find My; updates every 30 seconds or a minute.

What is going on with this feature?

It keeps getting grabbed by the Apple Watch, or so says people at Apple store. They elevated it to engineering. Waiting, waiting, waiting

I’m using a 12 Pro Max and should’ve had my 13 Pro Max today, but have been messed around a **** of a lot with my pre order, so was hoping this was gonna be fixed with a new phone!

Same here. My friends have iPhone x, 12, 13's IOS 15 and are on good cellular and VERY good wifi

When live DOES work it works great but most of the time its very intermittent, it may or may not work.

There doesn't seem to be any reason why this happens. One friend will be at home all day and he'll be live all the time and yet another friend will be doing the same and he'll be "NOW" all day ... or vice versa.

Possibly apples network cant handle all the live location requests ?

I have now tried to use Live updates a lot but and can say it simply doesn't work as advertised. It either works or doesnt for no reason at all. More often than not it doesn't work.

I thought it was gonna be one of the best things about IOS 15.

I have live working on some friends iPhone 8 phones that have been updated to iOS 15, but I also have other iPhone 8 phones that it doesn’t work on. I think the importance of the software matching is the first step, and if the phone is capable of taking the newest software then the live should work. No information on other settings to try.
