My Apple Pencil was working fine up until I updated to the new iOS 15 for the iPad. I have an iPad Pro with the 2nd gen Apple Pencil. The battery died in the pencil which has never happened. I usually keep the pencil on the charger when not using. It’s not charging or connecting to the pencil now. Is there an issue with iOS 15 in regards to the pencil?
Apple support determined that there was a glitch in the install of iOS15. Had to back up and do an erase of the iPad. After that I setup the iPad as a new one and the pencil started working. I let it charge and then restored from backup. All is working now.

See my resolution below. I had to do a full erase and reinstall as a new iPad for it to work again. Good luck.
I have the same issue. My Ipad will not see the pencil on Bluetooth. I have tried hard reset, resetting network settings, etc. I would advise holding off on the update for those who have not already installed it.
That wasn’t the problem. It was a software glitch with the new iOS 15 install.
Updated to IOS 15 and now my apple pencil won’t charge
