iPhone 13 Camera is blurry

Really? Than all of previous iphones why works far more better even my 6s take better pictures .. i refunded the 13 mini.. FIX the problem, do not try to explain why its a good thing when its obviously not..

@Robert Pearson Many people don't have these analysis capability or just avoid or not have in-depth knowledge and found good images on iphone 13 pro but in-reality it's the same what you wrote.

I also returned mine 2 days ago. For such high price we are receiving low quality device.

But then why are 2 pictures, taken at the same time, focussing on the same thing so immensely different where one has a filter and makes everything smooth and bright and the other you can see the pores etc? Why is the one item I focus on (cup of cereal) not fully focussed and the borders so mushy? And way are the items in the backgrounds sometimes double? They market this as the best phone camera ever, if the 7 can take the pictures it did why not take that main camera and make it even better? Payed 1200 euro’s to still be better of using a 7 from years ago for some detailed pics (even in low light it performed amazing for such an old camera look at the next picture from a dark rainy day)

I know it’s not as sharp as the others but for the circumstances? The 13 pro would just tweak it, put filters over it and make it worse because some software doesn’t believe that the lightning is ok for me?

Sadly, It’s past the return period (also I bought it trough our phone provider with some discount, so yeah) my 7 has horrible battery (it’s already been replaced once) and sometimes glitches. But I did wait for the 13 pro especially for the camera, which I find super important. Watched 100 reviews and no one said anything. Also seems the problems were just getting worse, until the point that now only pictures in perfect outside lightning are sometimes a little better than the 7.

From what I’m seeing I should have bought the 11 pro (which is my fault for believing apple) with the f1.8 because I do like an overal sharp photo not just foreground OR background, also like the fact that the 7 focusses on multiple things in the foreground not just one like the 13 pro seems to do? The 13 pro makes me wonder every time which part of my cat will be sharp when I tap her head idem with people it’s or the hair or the face? Also would rather see the pixels and grain than smoothness and sometimes double borders.

I do travel a lot and find it important to be able to snap a shot whenever I want. Glad I bought the canon R6 but won’t be able to cary that everywhere with me…

Some more examples of my 7 and what I wanted from the 13 pro but even better/sharper:

this I find a good example because the 7 is so old but at least the trees aren’t one green mushy thing, what I do get with the 13 pro even in ideal lighting.

here you can at least still read inside of the dome with non ideal light? A problem I’ve noticed a lit on car plates with the 13 pro, which I don’t see on any of my 7 pictures with cars. Especially with non ideal light its just a mushy mess.

And so on, just all to show that I thought this camera would be a massive upgrade (and I do take my time for pictures, not just conveniently picture anything fast) but is just meh and will need to take my 7 everywhere too now… Would expect better from a phone 5 generations further.

I do sometimes take good pics, it’s just crazy inconsistent and the overal sharpness is mushy and I don’t think the f1.5 is all to blame for that? Rather the overprocessing, can’t even see pixels?

Been feeling so bad as a student, trying to spoil myself, glad one purchase will be worth it… at least the battery is better haha

Hello ~ I myself have few problems with my iPhone camera. I also haven’t picked up my canon R6 in over a year as just too much of a hassle. My opinion the best camera is the one you have with you. If you don’t like that one sell it or throw it in a drawer then go out and get one that suits your needs. I certainly wouldn’t own a device that caused me so much concern.

So you prefer the 13 pro over the 11 pro? Selling it is questionable as we don’t know if it will get fixed with updates. Putting it in a drawer would be crazy for a fulltime student as me, working my *** of to finally replace my glitchy 7 with the “best iPhone ever” in the “year to go pro”. Glad I put some savings in a canon because I wanted to learn photography on a higher level. I will just take my 7 with me as it’s small (hoping it’s a software problem) and I don’t have the money to trow away 200/300 euro’s if I want to resell it…

I definitely do.

The processing can be a little much at times, but the vast majority of the time it does a better job than any other iPhone I've owned, and I've owned them all.

For example, the iPhone 7 might do better to some under certain circumstances but I could list many, many circumstances under which the iPhone 12 Pro and 13 Pro wipe the floor with the iPhone 7's capabilities, especially low light/concert venues.

However if you really dislike the photos the 13 takes, I'd stay away rather than hope it becomes something more to your liking.

I upgrade my phone each year because as, Katana-San mentioned above, your best camera is the one you have with you, and except for particular situations I no longer have a need to travel with my DSLR, my iPhone 13 Pro Max does everything I would have otherwise normally carried my DSLR for.

Thank you! That’s actually helpful. I do recognize that in a lot of scenarios it’s a better phone, but with the 7 ‘what you see is what you get’ meaning the picture won’t turn all blurry, over sharpened/contrasted, too light or filter like, maybe it’s indeed some batches of phones?

Also do you have tips to take the best out of it? Like I said, when I take a picture of my cat I want the whole cat sharp and most of the times her nose or ears aren’t, which can be fun if you focus on that deliberately but not if you want a general sharp picture.

13 pro is better in the dark outside but in low light? No, it smoothens and lightens everything (with or without night mode). And don’t even try the selfie camera at those lighting conditions now.

I just want a toggle for the processing and more consistency I guess.

That's not entirely true, night mode can do some very, very incredible things, but like any automated system it can only do so much.

For example, this shouldn't be possible by just pointing a phone straight up, hand held; it would take a tripod and much experimentation to get a shot of Orion like this with my DSLR.

Yes what I’m saying is that when you just want it how it looks in real life (see first 2 pictures I posted in my first comment) you (most of the times) get an over lightend smooth mess that’s not due to night mode and lots of people hate it.

I know that! :) Was just trying to show how sometimes the older phones are better then this super expensive one and that’s why people are complaining and looking for tips/explanations! Yours and dogcow-moof’s answers did make me want to play with it more after exams (and keep the 7 maybe sometimes to compensate). Will also get it looked after when I can!

Surely macro mode shouldn't be this bad quality? This mode has also changed the colour and looks so grainy!! I understand the lighting is quite dim in these photos but it shouldn't change the photo quality that much like this? Macro mode is on the left. Although the normal mode in the right looks fine, I've been having issues with taking photos for my food account on Instagram. My iPhone 11 Pro camera was way better at taking close ups than my iPhone 13 :( what do I do?

It's all about light - that looks like it is not enough light to make for a good macro photograph.

It's also clear that macro mode is making a best guess at white balance which accounts for the color shift, as can be seen because the background table is now more of an ivory.

Yes, people love to complain, and if you do a similar search you will find complaints about every camera on every phone Apple has ever released.

You can’t please everyone, but when it comes to phone cameras the 13 Pro’s are some of the highest rated available according to multiple independent reviewers and websites.

Yes, that doesn’t make a difference if it doesn’t do what you want it to do, but it is wonderful for most.

I tried many settings to fix this issue but seems it is hardware problem, there is not much on internet about this issue, I started to think this is only in mind, but seeing your msg here, I am sure I have this problem too.
