Apple Watch showing old texts (out of order) after reset

Hi,

i am hoping someone can help me. I recently upgraded my iPhone and was attempting to pair my Apple Watch Series 5 with the new phone.

After going through the reset and pair process, I opened up iMessage on my watch and saw a bunch of old text messages from 2018 mixed in with new texts from the past month or so.

I have attempted to unpair/pair multiple times, factory reset. No matter what I do, same issue occurs.

I cannot get my watch to sync messages or mirror what is currently on my phone.

any ideas what the heck is going on.

thanks in advance

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities MikeD711,

We understand you're seeing some old data, specifically messages, on your Apple Watch, after pairing it with a new iPhone.

If restoring from a backup, any data contained on that backup would be restored along with the device. When you unpair your Apple Watch, a new backup is created.

Unpairing your Apple Watch, and setting it up as a new device would remove any pre-existing data and you would start from scratch.

The recommended steps for pairing an existing Apple Watch with a new iPhone are available, here: How to pair your Apple Watch with a new iPhone

We hope this helps!
