Change in terms and conditions pop-up and red exclamation in settings

Yesterday before going to bed , I got a shock of a pop up saying I need to accept new iCloud terms and conditions. I thought someone hacked my phone and put malware on it so I force shuts down the iPhone , to see if it go away , it could also be a glitch or bug I thought. It wouldn’t let me access iCloud settings in the settings app, and I had to relog in , and click on the exclamation mark menu item under the iCloud one. After researching, seen posts in social media about it.

The terms are long and gobbledygook, vague, anxiety inducing and confusing such as using the words words of “faith” and “belief” to make accusations instead of facts , logic and evidence in the extract of the terms “faith belief that such access, use, disclosure, or preservation is reasonably necessary to: (a) comply with legal process or request; (b) enforce this Agreement, including investigation of any potential violation thereof; (c) detect, prevent or otherwise address security, fraud or technical issues”

it felt like I had Apple point a pistol to my head with no option to decide… there was no summery of the terms that easily explains them .. I had to accept just to make things work and move on … with the anxiety in the background that possible storm is brewing in the background , and I hope I don’t fall victim to this if it gets things wrong and I get in trouble for nothing. It is scary and fear inducing , especially if you know your government is heading towards a tin pot dictatorship.

secondly the have Autism , so things written like law jargon and business jargon doesn’t compute well in my brain.. can anyone give a brief explanation on what I accepted just to use my device so it works , am I over reacting can I have a peace of mind ?

thank you

We understand that you received a message on your device regarding new iCloud Terms and Conditions and would like an explanation of them after having accepted it. We'd be happy to provide some information on this.

Take a look at Legal - iCloud where you can find the full Terms and Conditions specific to your country/region. If you have questions about using iCloud and the specifics of these terms, we would suggest contacting Apple Support directly. Here's how to Get Support.
