restore in progress has been going for 18 hours, stuck on 100 MB, over 30 GB of storage available on my new iphone 13 promax; how do I get it to finish setting up?

SOLVED.
talked to apple tech and was told to restart the phone.
after restart, went to settings for "Update Apple ID Setttings ..... (1)" and entered appleID pw. this time it went through and "Update Apple ID Setttings ..... (1)" message disappeared.
after that, "restore in progress. an estimated xx.xGB will be required to finish restoring your apps and data" numbers started to actually decrease.
What do you mean? You do a backup of your old phone on your computer and restore the new one from that one. If you have material on your new phone that is not on your old one make sure to save it somewhere, as it doesn’t backup automatically if you are having this issue.
I am normally pretty tech savvy but this is driving me bonkers and making my head spin... Will the backup make me lose everything that I've saved in my iCloud over the last two months? In order to restore my phone to the final backup from my last phone, do I have to wipe this one first?
This is apples irresponsible ridiculous product managers not requiring restore use cases to be tested in QA in context of how about optimize app downloads and iCloud usage for all of your photo data? I ran out of space twice because the restore attempts to restore everything 100% and ignores him probably doesn’t even have the meta-data of unused apps or simple iCloud pointers for the content. After I ran out of space incessantly twice I started a race to delete gigantic apps and then the restore simply hung up I have 6.9 GB waiting and I did the app volume down volume hold lock button and I did the kill all apps and I did the click on waiting how about I do the where is Apple‘s responsibility in making sure that these functions actually work and what do they actually test time is it an empty phone?
billions of dollars and you can’t even manage use cases to restore your own devices with your own restricted apps and content —- what is the real fix ???? Update to iOS 57.5??? A disservice to every apple customer is what this is.
CAN ANYONE HELP ME WITH THIS? I don't know why it's so hard for the Apple people to help this should be an easy yes or no question. Like, "yes you'll lose all of your files since your last phone when you restart it" or "No, you won't" smh
Update: restore no longer says 100Mb left so I assume it finished right not long after I posted this. Definitely weird though bc it lagged for 3+ hours at 100Mb
I have the same issue. I am using the iCloud backup and still is on 13 gb left. What can I do?
iOS 15.1.1 was available for update.. so I'm doing that now and then they are going to call me back

Not plugged in WIFI is 75Mb
Not low on power but I didnt know that about the screen lock and wifi. I just plugged it in lets see what happens. I will let the forum know.
turning off cellular didn't do anything...
turning off wifi paused restore but not able to manually install apps due to bad reception...
iPad Pro m1, same issue - at 600 MB left, stuck for 10 days now. Can’t update iPadOS because of this, reboot doesn’t help…
I’m stuck on 300 MB for over a week and I can’t even “stop restore iPhone” manually! I’m on Wi-Fi and full battery still wouldn’t restore the remaining 300 Mb
