I upgraded to IOS 15 and use speaker when I am in meetings all day. Now when I click the mute button it makes a noise. How can I turn this off? I specifically do not use the mute button in zoom or webex because those make noise and I don't want to hear it.

PLEASE APPLE, MAKE THIS OPTIONAL!! I basically mute and unmute nonstop when on two-way calls if I'm multitasking in the kitchen or whatever - to avoid the other person having to hear me make noise. Now I have to hear the annoying sound every time and it's very distracting!!
That is a ridiculous "feature," and at least should be made optional. I am in mental health, and there are times when I need to mute a client while I continue listening - for a cough or sneeze for example. Apple of all companies which prides itself on choice, should allow me to decide if I want the person to know if I've muted them or not.
I’m also having this issue on 2nd Gen SE iOS 15.3.1 Though it’s only happening sometimes on some calls. I was hoping other callers weren’t able to hear that ping that’s embarrassing wish I was able to disable it. Almost sounds identical to the voice memo recording sound for those who wonder.
Correct, it is the mute button on the phone app. And Yes, my phone is always set to silent from the Silent/Ring switch. And I have tried turning it off and back on and it still makes a noise.
It shouldn't make a noise. It does vibrate. If it's making a noise, I'd suggest that you have a hardware issue.
I too have this issue, this is very annoying apple and I’m tempted to roll back an iOS to fix this issue until it’s fixed. Just give it a simple button in settings or something.

Yes, this is incredibly annoying. If Apple wanted to add this sound they should have built in a way to disable it like all of the other sounds.
Agree!!! I do the same. This is why I dread their updates. They always make something worse!!
