Safari 15 doesn't load tabs in background

Hi,

Since I switched to Safari 15, when opening several web pages in tabs, they load only when I access them instead of being preloaded in the background.

Is there a way to set that back to the previous behavior?

Thanks for any help

Hi, latest Safari Version 15.1 (17612.2.9.1.20) on macOS Monterey is still not ok, but I'm happy to confirm that after some tests, everything seems fine again with the latest available Safari Technology Preview Release 134 (Safari 15.4, WebKit 17613.1.6.1).

So until the base Safari version is fixed, you can just switch to Safari Technology Preview in the mean time. It can be downloaded from https://developer.apple.com/safari/technology-preview/ (and probably also the mac app store).

@Jakers777 @sjordi : I just tried again on my updated M1 with 12.1 / safari 15.2 (17612.3.6.1.6), this time with a brand new user, and it still works as it used to be before the upgrade to Monterey (so broken from 12.0 until 12.1).

To test: open 10 tabs with https://ipinfo.io for example, then under Bookmarks --> add bookmark for 10 tabs. Then open this bookmark : it should load all of them nearly instantaneously (depending on your device usage + network speed of course).

So again: everything looking fine to me on latest stock safari and safari technology preview Release 136 (Safari 15.4, WebKit 17613.1.9.2). If it's still not the case for you, maybe it will need a deeper cleanup, for example with OnyX or similar tools ? But for newly created users it shouldn't really be needed...
