iOS 15 - USB Car Connection

I have the iPhone 13 Pro with iOS 15 installed and since the recent update I haven’t been able to play music via USB cable to my Hyundai Sonata. It was working with my iPhone 11 Pro which also had iOS 15 installed and only has become an issue since having the iPhone 13 Pro. The cable will charge the iPhone and does recognize the phone is connected and displays the music file being played but there is no audio whatsoever. I checked for any update for my car system and it is up to date and I also tried connecting to my other car - Dodge Journey and it did the exact same thing. The phone will play music via Bluetooth so it isn’t a huge problem, more of an annoyance but I still welcome any thoughts or suggestions on a fix for this. 80 % of the music on my phone has been downloaded as I read somewhere that not having any music downloaded could cause an issue where the car doesn’t recognize the iPhone as an “iPod”. I also tried it with other music apps other than Apple Music and still the same issue. It feels like there is some issue with either the phone or iOS.

It seems like iOS 15.2 fixed the issue. I installed the update then removed my car from the Bluetooth memory, re-connected it and bam…problem sorted! Took Apple long enough to resolve it but iOS 15.2 has some pretty sweet security updates on a side note.

Same issue here. I do not understand why Apple can't leave things alone. I buy Apple products because they work. Great theory while it lasted. When you pay the kind of money that is required to own Apple products these issues and concurrently not fixing them is absolutely unacceptable.

Not only has the update cancelled out my usb connection it has also changed my Spotify wifi operation. Safari on my phone is a joke now that it’s format changed too. Last I phone I’m ever going to own. Apple can get out of my life

Awesome to hear!! Waiting for the spouse to drive home tonight and report *hopefully* the same. Noticed they didn’t directly mention it in any of their update notes that I could find lol. Wonder if I can go get my $20 from Best Buy for this stupid aux cord I had to buy.

Sorry for confusion, not sure if 15.2 was my last update or if I’m yet to receive it. However what ever number was the last up date has changed my phone in regards to my music being played thru a usb cable in my car and my spotify library play list( which could be a spotify thing) thru a wifi connection outside of home wifi. Wasn’t like this before update. Wish I didn’t have to update S I was happy with how it was before update.

Weird Christmas miracle?

Weve got a 2011 Cruze, an iPhone 8plus and an iPhone 11. After 15.2 was released, we weren’t one of the lucky ones. Our usb to phone to radio connection still didn’t work and the aux cable was the only way to use it.

We still used the usb outlet for charging. So I plugged my phone in as the passenger the other day and it worked. Absolute dumb luck. About five minutes later it stopped working. The next day? Worked flawlessly.

It’s worked perfectly the last two times we’ve used the car on both of our phones.

I have no idea why or how.

Same issue as OP. USB interface on radio no longer recognizes my iPhone 13 Pro, 2010 Cadillac SRX.

iOS 15.1 broke it for me.

Same for me. Hasn’t worked since updating to iOS 15.1. Works fine for my wife who is on 15.0.2.

I am having this same issue, with my car everyone else’s phone will work when hooked up to the usb cord, but I had to update to use Apple pay and now my music don’t work… ***** big time.

We should all cancel our Apple subscriptions. Just cancelled my Apple one. Screw them. Unacceptable form a company like Apple who is becoming more like a T-mobile type of conaong

I have an XsMax and so does my daughter, plug hers in to the usb it works fine, plug mine in no go. We are both updated to 15.1

How did you fix this? I was playing fine then my phone updated Saturday night then Sunday morning I went to plug my phone into the usb in my car and it would only charge not sync like I use to
