iPhone storage is showing that WhatsApp is taking 160Gb space but I have deleted everything

Hello everyone,

I have been having a lot of issues with my WhatsApp lately. Keeps saying storage is full. In my iPhone storage it’s showing that the WhatsApp is taking 160Gb space but I have deleted everything and my in my WhatsApp storage there’s only 2Gb full. But there’s the yellow bar which is full and says apps and other items. I want to know how I can empty that yellow bar.

Thank you

I have exactly the same problem. What'sApp tells me 3.47GB, iPhone storage tells me 27.9GB. An unaccounted for 24GB difference is not trivial on a 64GB phone. That's nearly 40% of my storage that's gone missing, despite my taking all the right steps to manage the data. Apple, we need a solution urgently please.

So what I’ve done is removing WhatsApp and install it again. The 2 numbers are now aligned but I haven’t solved the problem. Everything that was wrongly associated to WhatsApp in the iPhone storage now simply moved to System data which are impossible to decrease. On a 64 gb phone, over 40 gb are taken by system data, this is unacceptable (I’ve already done everything to improve like deleting safari cache, deleting apps data etc)

Even after updating the WhatsApp, it didn’t help and infact the space taken by WhatsApp has increased. On iPhone storage it is 5.32GB (which was 5.31GB before update), while on WhatsApp storage it is 1.12GB.

This is very irritating, there’s no solution to clear this ‘Other’ or these kind of issues. Even cheaper phones have better solution while Apple didn’t any solution since ages. Pathetic. Restoring and reinstalling is not a solution. Better I switch to Android.

Same problem here: whatsapp showing 300mb used and iOS showing 2.5gb used. I also noticed last updates of iOS consumes more than half of my 64gb which was much lower in previous iOS versions. Wondering if that is a strategy to make the installed base unusable after 2 years or so... so that most would have to purchase a new phone obviously with much more memory and higher price…
